Get ready for a huge improvement to the McMurry experience. When students return in the fall, they can study and hang out in a state-of-the-art A.E.C.

The new A.E.C., which will be located on the first floor of the library, will have plenty of computers for working and surfing, new furniture for relaxing and group-studying, and, of course, the new Java City for tasty  beverages.

Terry Young, the Interim Director for Jay-Rollins Library, describes the first floor as a “learning commons” where students can be comfortable and study. Along with the computers you would find in the A.E.C. now, there will be a lounge area with comfy couches and chairs.  There will also be desks with computers that seat up to four students for group projects. “We are very excited about all the new changes,” Ms. Young said. “Now all of the learning resources are in one building.”
Along with the A.E.C., new additions such as a communication production room, conference rooms, and the M.O.V.E program are also being added.

Another new addition that has staff at the library excited is both men’s and women’s restrooms will be on the first floor. “People seem to be very happy about that!” said Terry with a smile.

Even though many new additions are coming, students will be able to find everything that has been in the library before. The circulation desk will still be on the first floor, as well as all of the electronic media, printers, and copiers. The mezzanine located in between the first and second floor will also be unchanged.
