Dr. Alicia Wyatt (Computer Science) and Mrs. Ann-Marie Lopez (English) are currently working together to encourage students in English 1310 (Composition and Rhetoric) to include regular blogging activity into the class.
In addition, the BIMS program (Biomedical Science) has launched a new blog where students and faculty can publish news and research results of interest to their major.
The goal is to find ways to create and promote academic community, extending past face to face meetings in local spaces to a virtual community allowing for interaction with interested alums to experts in the discipline. Software support for an academic community may have multiple components–both public and private spaces, tools for announcements as well as reflection and discussion, repositories of resources, and presentations of completed products.
We will keep you posted on how things develop!
