AI: Friend or Foe?
We all know what Artificial Intelligence (AI) is, but do we fully understand what we should use it for? AI is meant to help us generate ideas and think creatively. With the various AI programs available in our technology-driven society, knowing what to use them for may be confusing. For example, in the arts, an artist may use AI to pick a color for their project. Most of the time we use AI for grammar and clarification in our essays. It’s not always the best when it provides suggestions so be careful when using AI. Make sure you check with individual professors for their own protocols on AI use.
Now let’s look at the cons of AI. There are multiple dangers of AI: it can provide false information if we are not careful with our searches, and we should make sure to not use AI to write an entire essay due to the fact it may not make sense and your professors know when you do.
To not have any stress about your projects, consider using AI for smaller tasks. Remember, McMurry students, that the English Writing Center in Old Main 301 is available for you to use free of charge. Additionally, your professors are always willing to help and would prefer that you reach out to them rather than relying on AI. There is always someone willing to help, no matter where you look. On a final note, make sure to double-check what AI does for you. Stay safe fellow War Hawks!
