Talons Dance Team returns to Football Performances

Issue 42: October 1, 2025

The Talons Dance team has been performing at Football games this season for the first time in three years! After years of an extremely small team or no team at all, they now have ten dancers. This is a big change and means great things for dance’s future! The team includes four returning members from last year, and the other six girls are new.

I am a captain on the team, along with Rylee Coleman and Charlotte Garcia. We lead the team during practice and at games, and help teach new members choreography. Being a leader in dance has been a great experience for me, and I have learned ways to balance being a captain and a friend to other girls. Having a larger team than last year has been amazing, and I’m so happy to see us growing! Our team is full of so many dedicated girls who show up early and put in extra hours of practice.

Getting to experience football season for the first time has been a learning experience, where we have had to deal with things we did not take into account. For example, being outside, we have experienced mosquitoes, wind blowing hair in our faces, the sun in our eyes, and heat exhaustion. The first two football games were in the evening, so we only experienced being in the shade. This past home game, where we beat Howard Payne 31-24, we were in direct sunlight, which definitely added a factor into how we performed due to the heat. Despite some challenges, we have so much fun performing together and wouldn’t have it any other way.

We are so excited to perform at the Homecoming game on October 11 at 1 p.m.! If you are interested in the dance team, you should consider going to the Dance & Cheer clinic on October 25. More information on clinics, tryouts, and all things dance can be found on the Talons Instagram account- mcmurrytalons.
