What’s This? Gothicon!

Hello, fellow War Hawks, how are we doing after Homecoming? We are close to being done with this lovely Fall semester. But wait! We have more events coming up this month. The English Club is excited to announce that Gothicon is returning this year, and we invite all you imaginative, spooky storytellers and talented artists to showcase your creativity! Mark your calendars because the deadline for submitting your artwork, poetry, and short stories is October 19th. Join us for a thrilling party on October 24th, running from 6 to 8 p.m., where you can enjoy a captivating movie, a spirited costume contest, and an array of delicious snacks. This festive gathering is not just about fun; it’s a chance for everyone to participate in the voting process to decide who will take home a special prize! As you prepare for Gothicon, remember that submissions can encompass a wide range of details as long as they adhere to a spooky theme and are not overly graphic—let your imagination run wild!

The evening’s festivities will kick off with pizza and mingling among peers, allowing everyone to enjoy the ambiance before the voting phase ends at 6:30 p.m. During this time, guests can peruse the various submissions on display, which will be available for reading rather than being presented aloud. For those eager to experience some thrills, we will be screening the horror film Terrifier, known for its intense and gory scenes, so prepare for quite the ride! However, rest assured, if horror isn’t your cup of tea, there’s no pressure to watch the movie—plenty of other activities will keep you entertained throughout the evening.

Don’t miss out on the costume contest, where creativity knows no bounds! Prizes await, including gift cards for 2nd and 3rd place winners. The grand prize for 1st place is a special gift, generously provided by the English Club, ensuring you leave with a delightful surprise.
