Fall Semester Coming to a Close
Who would’ve thought I’d make it here. My senior year of college, and I find myself with so much to appreciate. This semester marks the final fall semester I will have at McMurry University. That realization is both exciting and extremely terrifying. To balance the many complex feelings, I’m experiencing (and I’m sure many other seniors are, too), I want to take a moment to reflect on the opportunities and involvements I’m grateful to have experienced.
I’m especially grateful for the opportunity to be involved in McMurry Theatre, an experience that has shaped much of my college journey. My connection with the theatre began even before my freshman year, when I landed the role of Roxie in Chicago the summer after high school graduation. That experience sparked a passion I hadn’t anticipated and set the tone for my excitement to dive into everything McMurry Theatre had to offer. From that moment on, I couldn’t wait to see where this involvement would take me and how it would help me grow both as a performer and as a person. I’ve also had the opportunity to manage the social media page for McMurry Theatre over the past two years. This role has challenged me to think creatively while also honing my business skills. I’ve learned how to represent an organization through effective branding, event promotion, and audience engagement—skills that I know will be invaluable in my future endeavors. I’m truly grateful for the chance to gain this experience and grow in ways that extend beyond the classroom.
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be part of the wonderful sisterhood of Gamma Sigma. I joined in the spring of my freshman year and have fully embraced all that Greek life has to offer. Currently, I hold six positions—Insig, Social Chair, Sing Song, Treasurer, Alumni, and Song Leader—which have challenged me and helped me grow. Finding my sisterhood has been an absolute joy, and I’m deeply grateful for the lasting friendships I’ve made along the way.
I could talk for hours about all that McMurry has given me, but I’ll leave you with this: take every opportunity you can. McMurry is a place where you can grow in countless ways, and you’ll be supported, encouraged, and challenged every step of the way. Embrace those challenges, dive in wholeheartedly, and do everything you can to set yourself up for success!
