“A Charlie Brown Christmas” is a Can’t-Miss Show
Bells jingle, lights shimmer, and hearts warm as Christmas time approaches. What better way to kick off the Christmas season than joining McMurry’s Theatre Department in seeing their production of A Charlie Brown Christmas! This weekend at the Amy Graves Ryan Little Theatre, Charlie Brown and his friends invite you to watch an engaging and optimistic show about the true meaning of Christmas.
I am joined by Lucy, THE Lucy, in this article, as she shares what it has been like working with the infamous Charlie Brown. “Charlie Brown is a blockhead, but he has really proved to be a great director.” The beginning stages of their show, according to Lucy, were very rocky. People wouldn’t listen or take direction! She says that Charlie Brown had a lot on his plate, but he pulled through and produced a wonderful show.
“We have a shepherd, musicians, animals, even a Christmas Queen,” says Lucy, “and he managed to highlight all of our talents.” The cast was stubborn at first, but after experiencing Charlie Browns infectious determination, they cooperated and worked to produce a great show. Even Snoopy, Charlie Browns dog, contributed to the performance!
“The show opens this Thursday, December 7 at 7:30 p.m., and will run the whole weekend. The 8th at 7:30 p.m., the 9th at 2:00 p.m., and the 10th at 2:00 p.m. You need to go! It sure is a great play!” All performances will take place at the theatre in the Ryan Fine Arts Building, and tickets can be bought online or at the door.
Lucy is also reminding me to share that after the Saturday performance, there will be a Christmas party! With snacks, drinks, and a little gift from the cast. Join Charlie Brown, Lucy, and everyone else for a fun holiday celebration this weekend, you won’t want to miss it!
