Your Future is Right Around the Corner
Look at you, December graduates, you are almost there! Only one more week to go before graduation day comes up. This is the time when it feels stressful, either because of final grades or the big question that has been bouncing in your mind for this past semester: “What is next?”
I can tell you what is next: many opportunities and your time to make a difference in the field you wish to be in. I know life is hard, but that does not mean to give up after graduating. It means to stretch your wings and find what you want to be. Find yourself and lose yourself, that is how you know what is next in your life. All you have to do is turn the page and see what you will write for the next chapter of your life. Winter break is right after this, so take this time to figure out what you want to be.
I am graduating this December, so I understand the stress and not knowing what to do next. For two years, McMurry has been my home and my place to grow. I have met many brilliant people—professors and students alike—who have pushed me to be the best I can be, as well as my family. I have grown to become a War Hawk, and I will never forget what I learned while at this University. Also, to have professors and students care about your well-being is something I never thought I would have. These two years were filled with happiness, grief, and slight confusion (on my part), but I know this is the next chapter of my life. I can’t wait to see what will happen!
Remember, December graduates and future graduates of McMurry University, you will always be a War Hawk at heart—no matter where you go. Through sweat, tears, and a bunch of coffee, you have worked tirelessly to get to where you are. Be proud of your accomplishments and know that you deserve this day! I know some professors will definitely miss all of you graduates! So, wear your graduation cap and gown in honor of what you have achieved in your academic career. Ala Cumba!
For those who are wondering when the commencement will take place: December 13 at 10 a.m. in the Radford Auditorium! It would be amazing if you were all there to support your classmates, friends, or family members who are graduating this month.
Stay safe, fellow War Hawks!
