On McMurry\u2019s campus, several\norganizations plan events for students to make their student life more\nentertaining and less stressful. However,only one group is dedicated to keeping\nstudent life fun and active. CAB or Campus Activities Board, is in a charge of\na variety of the activities and events hosted on campus. From free concerts and\nmovie nights, to trips to Six Flags, CAB is busy keeping students busy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The War Hawk Herald\nsat down with Gaby Martell, CAB\u2019s president, to discuss what it takes to run\nthe fun. Gaby Martell served as vice-president of Campus Activities Board last\nyear. She ran for president because: \u201cI [Gaby] see the potential to reach and\ndo amazing things on Campus and I wanted to make sure that those things are accomplished.\u201d\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The position requires\na lot of time and effort. Not only is CAB\u2019s president in charge of creating fun\nevents for students, but also organizing events and making sure they are ran\neffectively. \u201cThe hardest part of this position is the time management,\u201d said\nMartell. \u201cIt requires so much time to plan and work on events.\u201d Martell, a junior majoring in physics, manages\nher time well between heavy class work and homework, and the huge\nresponsibility that is CAB.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe most important\nthing that all students should know about CAB is that all the events are fun\nand free,\u201d Martell added. \u201cIf students are open to participating, the events\nare way more fun.\u201d Fall is the busier season for CAB. With a hoard of freshmen\nbarely getting acquainted with McMurry, CAB makes it their mission to help\nstudents on campus by engaging them in fun activities. \u201cWhen students first\narrive at McMurry, many get homesick, so we try to have at least one event a\nweek during the fall semester to keep students engaged and involved.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAB\u2019s biggest event\nis the fall festival. Occurring every October, the festival is a large event\nwith food, games, and entertainment to mark the first days of fall. Gaby\nMartell will be running for president again next year and hopes to plan more\nskate nights, concerts, and festivals for students. If CAB can leave students\nwith one reminder it is: \u201cwe work on events and pay for events so our students\ncan have fun for free and get involved in campus more.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n
