{"id":738,"date":"2021-02-09T11:29:10","date_gmt":"2021-02-09T17:29:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.mcm.edu\/herald\/?p=738"},"modified":"2021-02-09T11:29:10","modified_gmt":"2021-02-09T17:29:10","slug":"a-safe-super-bowl-party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.mcm.edu\/herald\/2021\/02\/09\/a-safe-super-bowl-party\/","title":{"rendered":"A Safe Super Bowl Party"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Residence Life and the Campus Activities Board prided themselves in providing a safe and convenient space for students to enjoy Super Bowl LV this Sunday within the spacious walls of the Kimbrell Arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe were notified earlier that week that we would proceed with hosting the Super Bowl party on campus,\u201d said Chloe Johnson, Director of Housing (Campus Living Villages) and Hunt &amp; Martin Halls, \u201cWe spent a whole week in constant communication and teamwork with C.A.B., Res. Life, I.T., the campus food service, the Athletic Department, and Student Affairs.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students and staff working \u201cThe Big Game Party\u201d served attendees with a cheery disposition, while adhering to health protocols. Upon entering J.W. Hunt Physical Education Center, students were directed to the sign-in desk where Chloe Johnson and Allen Portier, Assistant Residence Hall Director, greeted students and checked temperatures and handed out meal tickets and admittance bands. Attendees were then directed to their reserved tables, where students would later chat amongst themselves about classes and, of course, the big game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m rooting for Kansas City,\u201d said Terrin Boehmer, a sophomore business major.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSame. I\u2019m tired of Tom Brady winning,\u201d said David, a junior chemistry major, \u201cThe game is more interesting this year, though. They\u2019re actually making progress across the field. Last year it was more static.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The staff worked hard to make the arena more inviting and it showed. The floor was covered in carpet, giving the room a homey feeling despite the distance between the tables and their respective students.
