Last week, members of the Title 5 team from Cisco and McMurry ventured to Frisco to visit The Star, home of the Dallas Cowboys. Our trip was not to see the sights (although we did!) but instead to get a glimpse of one of the digital anatomy products we are considering for the redesign of our Anatomy courses. Our host was Tom Chelston of Touch of Life Technologies (TolTech). Our reason for being at The Star is because their products are used by The Cowboys to evaluate athletes and injuries.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed past security and escorted to the Cowboys Medical suite where Chelston demonstrated the hardware and software used by the Cowboys medical staff to evaluate athlete health. We were then treated to lunch and given a private tour of The Star. Oh, and we did encounter one of the players. 🙂
Title 5 is bringing a new degree program in Human Health Science, and upgraded anatomy and physiology courses will be the foundation for the program. Our intent is to add digital anatomy resources to the traditional anatomical models and wet dissection of non-human organs (eyes, brains, hearts, kidneys). Several digital products have our attention, including digital anatomy, digital dissection, digital cadaver tables, and VR goggles. We got to see what TolTech has to offer, and it was impressive!
Attending were (from left to right above) Tom Chelston (TolTech), Debbie Barton (Biology at Cisco), Jeff Moore (Title 5 Lab Manager), Dr. Ryan Dalton (Kinesiology at McMurry), Dr. Cynthia Rutledge (Kinesiology at McMurry), Dr. Gary Wilson (Biomedical Science at McMurry) and Nick Conklin (Title 5 Technology Specialist).
