All the recent rains had me very concerned going to collect traps this past weekend. The students had the weekend off so I took my son and father-n-law along for the ride. Thankfully, we found 9 out of 10 traps deployed. My son was excited with the big crayfish that we caught. We also released several blue-gill sunfish and 1 small crappie. I didn’t snap any pictures this time but I’ll have some coming up.
It’s going to be a busy summer, Rachel and Kamwren will be continuing with their projects and three newbies will be joining us for the summer. Chris Lewis, will be working on rearing some dragonfly larvae and starting some preference studies. This will be for his capstone project. London Weilert will also be working on her capstone project this summer, she’ll be sampling the surrounding counties to determine which species of snails can be found there. Right now the literature says nothing… The last newbie will be Chris Causer, he is joining the lab full time this coming fall and will begin working on damselfly rearing and preference studies.
Talk to you all soon!
