MSG Spearheads Post Homecoming Campus Cleanup Effort

Issue 43: October 15, 2025

McMurry Student Government (MSG) led the charge in restoring campus beauty on the evening of Monday, October 13th, with a post-Homecoming cleanup that brought together members from across the McMurry community. Members started at Bishop’s Hall and rallied students from nearly every Greek organization on campus to take part in a large-scale trash pickup, snaking through campus systematically.

The cleanup aimed to beautify the university following the week’s Homecoming festivities while fostering collaboration between MSG and Greek Life. Students met at Bishop’s Hall for a group photo and to get supplies before splitting into teams that covered routes circling the dorms, the stadium, the Quad, apartments, library, club monuments, and other key points. Each team gathered bags of litter and debris, working their way back to Bishop’s by the end of the event.

“I was really proud to see so many groups show up and work together,” said MSG Vice President and event coordinator, Isabella Trevino. “It’s a great reminder that when our campus comes together, we can make a visible difference.”

Students worked side by side, laughing and chit-chatting while collecting stray cups, wrappers, and other oddities and garbage from parking lots and in the grass likely left from Homecoming celebrations. The project is part of MSG’s ongoing mission to increase student engagement and improve campus. MSG members are already discussing making the cleanup a recurring event in the future.

“Events like this show that MSG cares about the campus and the people on it,” Trevino added. “A clean and welcoming campus says a lot about who we are as a community. It’s something we can all take pride in.”

The event wrapped up at Bishop’s Hall with another group photo, a few laughs, and a rousing sense of accomplishment. As MSG looks toward future semesters, students can expect more opportunities to get involved in service projects that help keep McMurry University looking its best.
