Makona Secures Rumored Threepeat at Sing Song
Makona Men’s Fraternity has done it again! On the evening of Sing Song 2025 this past Sunday, with the crowd packed into Radford and anticipation in the air, Makona delivered a performance that brought the house down and locked in their third consecutive victory in a row.
This year’s theme was 100 Years of Heartbreak, celebrating 100 years of T.I.P., and Makona flipped the concept on its head with an upbeat medley of “I Want You Back” by the Jackson 5 and “Sweet Escape” by Gwen Stefani.
The performances were full of energy from the first note to the final pose! Batman also returned to the campus during the performance of “Sweet Escape” in vain to stop the Villians of Gotham from escaping. This time, the Caped Crusader was defeated handily by the Joker and friends just in time for the last chorus as the rogues made their escape.
The win marks Makona’s third straight Sing Song title, a streak now being called the “Threepeat” among students and alumni. “Everyone brought their best this year” said one Makona performer. “There was so much talent on that stage from every group, but we knew if we kept our energy up and had fun it could be ours again.”
Makona’s Sing Song legacy continues to grow and so does its presence in campus culture. With this win the club has set a high bar for themselves and proven that a mix of creativity, commitment and just a little chaos is a recipe for more than just a trophy. Sing Song is a competition that they hope brings McMurry together one verse at a time for a very long time.
