As we begin Spring Break in West Texas America, there a’s a question everyone wants to know…  What’s next?  This year’s start to Research Teams has been an unqualified success, and yet we’re just getting started….

In the past few weeks we have been looking into what new Research Teams will be added next year.  We will see Team Oncogeniuses, Team Crab Boyle, Team Brant Scouts, and Team Cisco Sustainability applying to continue in the coming year.  But add to their number three new potential teams.

One is going to be led by Professor Brandi Terry at Cisco.  This team will engage students from both Cisco and Abilene campuses in a study of artificial insemination methods and efficiency for livestock.  Prof Terry will bring the agriculture programs into Research Team Land to expand our offerings in a great new direction.

A second team being proposed is from the Department of Kinesiology at McMurry.  Dr. Ryan Dalton has plans to conduct physiological research on how various training methods impact the blood chemistry and performance measures of individuals.  This will be human research that should excite any future health professions major.

And the third team being proposed is an exciting “deep dive” into human anatomy, as Dr. Larry Sharp at McMurry will lead a team creating educational content for our incoming 3D digital cadavers to be used in teaching human-based anatomy and physiology courses.  When the digital dissection tables arrive in Summer 2020, Dr. Sharp and his team of students will be the experts on using the tables effectively.

Applications from existing and proposed teams will be submitted by April 1, and teams will begin looking for student participants to join the work shortly thereafter.  More on how you can participate on one of these Teams in the future!
