Makona Fraternity hosts Flamingo Fun Run & Trunk or Treat

On the morning of Halloween, October 31st, the Fraternity Makona is partnering with Cancer Services Network to host their annual fun run! All the proceeds go to CSN and will support lives impacted by breast cancer. There will also be a trunk-or-treat, costume contest, food trucks, vendors, and live music. You won’t regret adding this event to your Halloween weekend plans!

With the event being on Halloween this year, Makona thought it would be great to bring a Trunk or Treat to this year’s Fun Run, as well as a costume contest! President of the fraternity, Antonio Martinez, states, “There are not a lot of family events to attend here in Abilene, and so we also decided on the trunk or treat in hopes that it would bring a bunch of families to the event and have something fun for them to do together!”

If Halloween isn’t your thing, and running is, they have options for the fun run! There is a 1.55-mile option and a 5K option. This is for fun and for a cause, so walking is just as good. Martinez says, “We believe people should come to the fun run because it will give people the opportunity to communicate and engage with others in the community of Abilene!” Runner registration is $30, and student registration is $20.

To give Makona enough time to get everyone’s registration bags ready, the registration deadline is October 26th, five days before the event. The registration bags will include a shirt and a variety of things! You can register for the event here. You won’t want to miss this fun morning, 9am-12pm located at McMurry!
