This past weekend the Brant Scouts presented their research at the 38th annual meeting of the Texas Society of Mammalogists on February 22, 2020.  Three students presented at the conference.

Rebecca Harris gave an oral presentation entitled “Bat diversity and the impact of wind turbines on the bat communities in the Big Country” wherein she described her research using SM4BAT ultrasonic detectors to characterize the bat communities both near wind farms and away from wind farms.

A’lexus Scott gave a poster presentation entitled “Estimating the density of small rodents at Firebase Libby, Callahan County, Texas” wherein she discussed the results of our rodent trapping at Firebase Libby.

Hunter Lynn gave a poster presentation entitled “Animal diversity of medium to large mammals in Callahan County using camera traps”  wherein she described our camera trapping efforts at Firebase Libby.

All three presentations were well received.  Included on the trip were several students (from left to right: Deanna Williams, Bryana Mitchell, Kimber Boyles, Julie Nelson, A’lexus Scott, Hunter Lynn, Adam Liuzza, & Rebecca Harris).
