Gamma Sigma hosts their highly anticipated Break-a-plate fundraiser
With the spring semester coming to a close, many students are feeling the pressure of the dreaded finals week. This Tuesday, April 28th, Gamma Sigma will be hosting their highly anticipated break-a-plate fundraiser! This event allows students to release any stress before finals by writing on a plate and smashing it to the ground. If you would like to participate, they will be outside the campus center from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The pricing will be $2 per plate and $5 for 3 plates.
According to a MentalHelp study, 89% of college students were stressed at least two to four times per semester and 30% said they were stressed for almost the entire semester. Finals were the biggest source of stress for 31% of students surveyed. There are many ways to de-stress, such as reducing screen time, managing your time, sleeping well, exercising, and not procrastinating. Another way is by releasing your stress physically, which leads to immediate feelings of mental and physical relaxation.
This will be Gamma Sigma’s 4th time organizing this fun experience for students, and it is sure to be a hit! They participated in the Back2School event at the start of the Fall semester, helping Freshman and Transfer students ease any worries before the year began. Many students asked when they would be able to do it again, and now is the time!

As the President of Gamma Sigma, I am so excited to see the energy people bring! It is always fun seeing people write out their frustrations, and sometimes share with us what they wrote. I have seen people write about school work stress, time management, friendships, relationships, work, and so much more. Watching students and faculty break their plates by throwing them onto the tarp is entertaining in itself, but hearing the feedback about how fun it was is even better!
Come release your worries and stress, and break-a-plate this Tuesday!
