McMurry University’s Homecoming Weekend is a Must-Attend Event!

Issue 54: October 30, 2026

Next weekend marks a crazy one for all McMurry students–homecoming weekend! Thursday, November 5th marks the first performance of The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee in Ryan Little Theatre at 7:30 pm, but the musical is also being performed on Friday the 6th and Saturday the 7th at the same time!

Friday, November 6th kicks off with McMurry’s Chanters serenading us in the Ryan Recital Hall at 3:00 pm but by no means are the festivities over! At 5:00 pm, McMurry is hosting the “Friday Festival” in the quad as well as alumni happy hour at the same time. The long-awaited homecoming coronation starts at 7:30 pm, where our homecoming court, led by Mr. and Ms. McMurry, will be announced! After that, some much-in-order celebration will start at 8:00 pm- this consisting of our pep rally, a firework show, and lawn jam concert!

Saturday, November 7th you might want to cut your designated sleeping-in-time short, as McMurry’s Greek life will be performing their club songs with our alumni in the atrium at 10:15 am, followed closely by the football tailgate at 11:00 am behind the library. There, you can expect to once again catch Greek life as well as food trucks and plenty of pre-football fun. Of course, it wouldn’t be a tailgate without a game, so don’t miss kickoff at 1:00 pm! McMurry will be playing against Howard Payne University, whom we beat 31-24 last year due to our significantly higher passing yards. Hopefully, though, McMurry will be able to put up similar numbers to last year’s homecoming game against Lyon College, in which we won 65-7. On Sunday, November 8th, homecoming weekend will finish off with the final Ala Cumba ceremony at 10:00 am in the Mabee Room and Atrium, providing plenty of time for some much-needed rest for our War Hawks before Monday classes.

Everything McMurry has in store next week is an excellent opportunity to kick off your November with plenty of entertainment, football, perhaps some school spirit, and everything awesome you can imagine under the blanket term of “whatnot”, so don’t miss McMurry’s homecoming weekend!
