McMurry Esports Set for 2024 SCAC Showdown

The McMurry Esports team is set to travel to San Antonio for the 2024 SCAC Showdown on April 13th-14th. 9 total schools will be traveling to the competition including the defending champions Colorado College. Teams will compete in games such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Valorant, Rocket League, and Apex Legends. Points accumulate between the schools based on placings in each game.

McMurry had a disappointing 2023 competition but boasts a heavily improved squad. McMurry Rocket League sits at 4th currently in the conference with an 8-4 record against other SCAC schools. The McMurry Apex team currently sits at the top of the SCAC with 826 points, almost 100 ahead of the second-place team. The McMurry Valorant team sits at 6th in the conference with a 3-6 record and will look to outplace their seeding come the Showdown. McMurry Smash Boasts a strong squad with two players being ranked in the top 10 Abilene Smash Rankings. Regardless of rankings, McMurry Esports is excited to represent McMurry and play with heart.
